Hi Friends!!!
Once the installation is done in the correct manner , we need to check few points before starting/commissioning the pumpsets. Below are the important Checkpoints during Commissioning of Pumpset.
- Free Rotation of the pump with hand.
- Direction of rotation of Prime mover in coordination with pump’s direction of rotation.
- If the pump is mechanical seal fitted , then whether locks are removed or not.
- Coupling locking bolts need to be removed.
- Bearings need to be oiled/greased.
- Coupling bolts needs to be properly tightened.
- Pump should be fully primed/or submerged incase of submersible pump.
- Gland packing should be checked whether it is new or old. Incase pump is supplied from stock.
- External Flushing/Quenching Connections to be provided incase of mechanical seal.
- Suction / Delivery pressure gauge readings to be taken.
- Pump and Motor bearing temperatures should be within limits.
- Checking of RPM during running condition.
- Motor Load Current to be measured.
- To check if any abnormal Vibration/Noise. — If possible to take readings.
- To note down pump running hours.
Most important point is to check Pumpset alignment before starting the pump. If the readings are not within limits then don’t start the pump.
I hope these points will be useful to you’ll while operating the pumpset.
Thanks and Regards
